When the Greenfield Coalition embarked on the development of multimedia computer-based instructional materials it soon became evident that while faculty members are strong subject matter experts they have little experience in CBI technology. In an effort to address this situation and to improve the learning effectiveness of the CBI materials, the coalition undertook defining a new process and specifications for the design and development of multimedia CBI modules. Both the process and the specifications, which are discussed in this paper, are now being implemented with active curricula development projects.
