This paper presents progressive die design considerations for high volume, high speed dies, producing dimensionally critical small metal components from difficult to form materials. It also reviews the importance of identifying key material vendors and defining key material forming properties. Being able to properly define the material properties in a specification to insure consistency of material forming capability over time. This allows reliable parts production and provides necessary data for computer simulation studies.
