Abrasive-waterjet-based deep drilling (1-3m) concepts for metals were investigated. In these concepts, the abrasive-waterjet (AWJ) was used as the cutting tool. Experimental simulation and drilling tests were conducted to validate the selected concepts and to determine the specific parameters, strategies, and techniques to be incorporated in a drilling head design.
