Description / Abstract:
This International Standard sets requirements for LNG bunkering
transfer systems and equipment used to bunker LNG fuelled ships,
which are not covered by the IGC Code. The scope of this standard
includes the following five elements.
1) Hardware: Liquid and vapour transfer systems including;
connections, rigid articulated piping, hoses, dry disconnect, ERS,
and dry break-away emergency release systems and emergency shut
down systems (ESD stages 1 and 2 ),
2) Operational Procedures: Including; communications, minimum
personnel protective equipment required, valve closure times,
maintenance/inspection of equipment, and the requirement for the
LNG provider and operator of the vessel being bunkered to comply
with their detailed fuel handling manual and the emergency
procedures specified in 18.2.3 of the IMO IGF Code,
3) Requirement for the LNG provider to document the; fuel
quality- temperature- density, and methodology used to meter net
energy quantity of LNG transferred,
4) Training and qualifications of personnel involved and
5) Requirements for LNG facilities to meet applicable ISO
standards and local codes.
