Description / Abstract: This International Standard provides test methods and acceptance criteria for the evaluation of the electromagnetic compatibility of Earth-moving machinery as defined in ISO 6165 and Building and roadconstruction machines covered by ISO/TC 195.

It deals with EMC requirements under aspect of functional safety for construction machinery, ESA and separate ESAs.

This International Standard is only relevant for functions of machine control systems which meet the design requirements greater or equal to Performance Level b as defined in ISO 13849. Electrical and electronic components or separate ESAs intended to be fitted in construction machinery under the restriction of Performance Level b as applicable above are also dealt with by this International Standard. The following electromagnetic disturbance phenomena are evaluated:

- radiated electromagnetic field by off-board sources with various field strength and frequency;

- radiated electromagnetic field by sources located on-board (antenna inside/outside) with various field strength and frequency;

- electrical field (wire conducted electrical fields);

- electrostatic discharge;

- conducted and coupled electrical transients.

Construction machinery can have DC and AC internal electrical power supply systems.

Machines that are designed to be supplied by the „Public Mains Network“ are specifically excluded.

NOTE Grid connected machines are covered in IEC 61000 series.

Phenomena caused by military applications are excluded from this International Standard explicitly.
