Before your department upgrades or refurbishes any automotive fire/rescue apparatus, refer to the updated NFPA 1912 . This Standard defines requirements for two levels of refurbishing, providing detailed information on all major components and systems.

The 2006 edition contains:

* A new section on chassis components

* New references for compliance with NFPA 1906 : Standard for Wildland Fire Apparatus in specific instances

* Changes parallel to pertinent sections of the 2003 NFPA 1901: Standard for Automotive Fire Apparatus

* New Annex presenting an equipment size and weight chart

* New Annex containing guidelines for first line and reserve fire apparatus

Annexes also include explanatory material as well as a guide to the preparation of specifications for the refurbishment of a fire apparatus.
